into Italy
» Posted in Travel by kihitsu | 12:29Fortunately, my trip wasnt all too bad. Including a 5 hour layover in Atlanta, GA, the entire trip over to Italy was less than 20 hours. I managed to sleep on the main flight.
Once I landed and debarked, it was a quick walk to the train terminal that would take me into the heart of Rome.
The ticket I purchased in the terminal at the airport was good for traveling via a Fast Train into Naples. However, when I got to the Rome terminal I couldnt find my train and I only had 10 minutes to locate it. By the time I stood in line at the ticket information office my train to Naples had departed. So, I had to catch the “slow” train which took over 3 and a half hours to get into Naples. I didn’t care though…I was in Italy and just looked at all the sites and people along the way.
I was surprised at the amount of graffiti everywhere in Italy (at least in Rome, Naples and Amalfi Coast area). Most of it was well done and better than I have seen around in the US. Above is a good example of the type of graffiti i’m talking about.
Once into Naples, it was another short walk outside to the bus terminal…which was a sign with a bunch of people waiting. I asked around and found out I needed a bus ticket and was directed to the local Tobbachi shop around the corner where I purchased one. Once on the bus to Sorrento it was a very winding, long ride along the mountainous roads. Along the way are some of the most beautiful vestiges to be seen anywhere in the world. Entire towns and cities just clinging to the sides of the Amalfi Coast mountains.
